With the advent of IPv6, web apps, web automation, automated factory control one must continuously ask the same question we have begun to ask for several years since the beginning of the automation, computation, and communication revolution. We want to ensure that all this information is under the guide of responsible companies with responsible security policies and responsible hiring. We need to ensure that those that control the movement of that data are well trained, ethical, and respectful of the power they have in that they have access to all non-encrypted data passing over the pipes they control.
F5 training courses and Cisco IronPort training courses are just the required beginning. We are at an impasse in this country. We are no longer a manufacturing country as we were before. We are now an information society. Information needs to be moved. The question is who will design the products that will be moving the information and who will manage and control the information movement.
This is not a problem as long as we ensure that those involved in this field are monitored and their employers ensure they posses the highest ethics. This can be done in a respectful and non-intrusive manner and in the long run going forward should be incorporated in their training.
